@E. Smith - We certainly got a lot of comments similar to yours. Our options are limited by this state's culture and traditions, as well as the rules of the Democratic National Committee. Unless we become a state where people register by party, the caucus is the best way for us to locate Democrats. We have been caucusing in this state for over 100 years.

Most of the people who were able to come have told us they had a very positive experience. I'm sorry yours wasn't so good. It is a misunderstanding that we came to caucus to debate or discuss issues. We gathered to elect delegates to represent us in the Presidential selection process, and we did a good job of that. You may have noticed that we reported our results promptly and without confusion. The main complaint, really was that our turnout of 243,000 was so much larger that we were running out of space.

Your figure for the turnout is in error. I'm not sure how you arrived at it, since the Republicans have not, to my knowledge, announced their turnout to this day, and you would have to add their number to ours to get an accurate count. If they had maybe 150,000 at their caucus, then turnout was closer to 400,000 of 1.9 M voters, or 21%. I'd say that's really respectable, especially compared with a vote-by-mail primary.

I suggest that we need to continue to improve the caucus process to include more Democratic voters. However, a primary that is open to mischevious Republicans is a non-starter, for me. Rush Limbaugh sent many thousands of them to the Texas Democratic primary to vote for Clinton.

@ E. Smith - I've heard the that question of caucus vs. primary will be addressed as a Resolution rather than at Platform item since Resolutions are intended for timely topics and the Platform is intended for time-invariant issue positions.  Watch for resolutions to be posted in the next week or two as it has taken some time for the committee to compile and type-up all of them.  FWIW--

I believe I'd been assured that this issue was on the table. If not, you've lost me.   The caucus system should be replaced by a Democrat party primary.  Fewer than seven percent of the registered voters participated in the caucuses, reflecting the disenfranchised masses who were unable to attend. The absolute bedlam that prevailed precluded debate, discussion or any progress toward reasonable democratic process.  "Might is right" went out with the Magna Carta and while there is an outcry for "change" let the integrity of a true democratic procedure prevail.  Otherwise, point blank, it's fraud.  Suggest we walk the talk of "change."
Respectfully, E. Smith
